Learning Objectives: Course Objectives: The following assessment objectives will be met in this course: Candidates will… • recognize the relationship between curriculum standards, instruction, and assessment. • understand the importance of classroom assessment in the instructional process. • understand the purpose of standardized testing and how to interpret the results to improve instruction. • create, administer, score, interpret, and use a variety of teacher-produced assessment instruments. • describe the advantages and disadvantages of the different forms of assessment in general, and for specific content areas. • know how to communicate assessment data to students, parents and the school community to help them understand the progress of the student.

Technical Requirements: Students will need to be able to access a computer that can access the internet, use word processing programs, and use programs introduced by the instructor that can be used to create and read assessments.
