Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, students should be able to: - Know the use of formatting options, copy and paste operation in all MS Office applications - Create business level, desktop publishing style MS Word documents - Create Excel spreadsheets with formulas, functions, absolute and relative addresses - Create graphics, pivot tables and pivot charts in Excel - Understand when and how to use a personal database application such MS Access - Know how to create, relate and manipulate data tables in MS Access - Know how to create forms, queries and reports in MS Access - Know how to effectively create and use PowerPoint Presentations
Required Materials: MTSU Custom Bundle - Introduction to Microcomputing: New Perspectives on Microsoft Office 2016, Publisher: Cengage. – available at MTSU Bookstore. The MTSU bundle comes with the e-book, SAM access code. There is also an optional printed textbook option. The SAM access code you have to use it the first time you logon to SAM.
Technical Requirements: This course makes use D2L class management system (http://elearn.mtsu.edu.) The D2L site will be used extensively throughout the course for communication, document and assignment information delivery, and exam submission. Copies of the course syllabus, the course calendar, information about assignments, and general course documents are available on the site. This class is paperless. Thus, all material that you will need during class will be available on the D2L site prior to the beginning of class. Select announcements may be posted regarding course changes and information. Finally, all grades earned in the class will be posted on the D2L site as soon as possible following their submission. You can check your current grade in the class anytime by accessing the grade book on the D2L site. This course makes use of the Skills Assessment Manager (SAM) web system. The SAM website will be used extensively throughout the course for tutorials and homework assignment submission and grading. Students must login to D2L and click on the course link in the SAM Cengage Learning Resources Module (“Content” section), to access the SAM course resources. All assignments will use either Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, or PowerPoint. If the student does not have access to this products, they are available through C@M as well as in the computer labs, classroom, and library.
